정의

cross correlation이나 normalized cross correlation은 두 신호(음성신호, 영상신호 등)의 형태적 유사성을 단지 수치적으로 계산한 것이다. 여기서 'cross'라는 용어는 이동, 교차의 의미로서 두 신호를 서로 겹쳐서 correlation을 계산하기에 붙여진 이름이다. 그리고 두 신호가 겹쳐지는 시점은 한 신호를 shift시킴으로써 다양하게 조정될 수 있다.
